Emotional needs. Legal concerns. Financial decisions. Each can require enormous support following the death of a loved one. The Hartford’s Beneficiary Assist¹ program helps you cope with the emotional, financial and legal issues that can arise after a loss.

Provided by ComPsych®, our service offers assistance to:

The beneficiary of an insured person following their death;
An insured person who qualifies for an accelerated benefit from a group life policy;
An insured person who qualifies for benefits from a group accident policy due to a severe accidental injury.

Unlimited Phone Contact

For up to one year, you can receive grief counseling, financial counseling and legal advice through the ComPsych network.

Assessment and Intervention

Upon request, phone counselors will assess your bereavement counseling needs and develop an individualized plan for you.

Face-to-Face Working Sessions

Beneficiaries can receive up to five face-to-face working sessions, or equivalent professional time. All five sessions may be used with one grief counselor, financial planner or legal advisor. Or they may be shared among three types of advisors/ counselors.

Referrals and Support

ComPsych counselors may make a referral to a qualified grief counselor or financial and legal consultants.
