Reporting a Claim

Report your claim to the Benefits Administrator at your place of employment.

Verify & Gather Information

The Hartford will verify and gather information about your coverage with your employer. We’ll then follow up with your employer or beneficiary if information is missing.

Process Timing

The claim will be processed in five business days or less upon receipt of all needed documentation. More time may be required if more information or further investigation is needed.

Payment of Funeral Expenses

Funeral expenses can be paid out of the claim proceeds, with a funeral home assignment, signed by the named beneficiary, easing the burden for your family.
The Hartford may accept from the funeral home, a certificate of death form in lieu of a certified death certificate, in certain circumstances.
